Background

The long way round

I didn't start in tech. I drove HGVs for years. Tight deadlines, no excuses. If you said you'd be somewhere at 6am, you were there at 6am.

I taught myself to code in the gaps. Early mornings, late nights, weekends. Eventually the side projects turned into independent work, and the independent work turned into something real.

That background stuck with me. Deadlines matter. Communication matters. Doing what you said you'd do matters. I've seen enough projects go sideways to know that most problems come down to basics that people ignore.

When I'm not working, you'll find me on a golf course, watching Liverpool, or in our self-converted campervan with my fiancée, daughter, and dog.

How I Work

Simple principles, consistently applied

I've built sites and I've inherited them. I know what corners get cut and where projects fall apart. These principles exist because I've seen the alternative.

  • One conversation

    You talk to me. I talk to you. No project managers relaying messages, no delays waiting for someone to check with someone else.

  • No shortcuts

    Clean code, properly documented, easy to maintain. No shortcuts that save time now but cause headaches later.

  • Clear availability

    I work Monday to Thursday, 8am – 4pm. You'll get a response within 24 hours during those times. Emergencies outside that? I'll be there.

  • Still here after launch

    I don't disappear after launch. Issues get fixed fast because I already know the code inside out.
